Forests in Westland
- Prinsenbos
Leave the salty dunes behind and head for the forests located in Westland. The perfect outing with nice weather and not so nice weather. The forest never disappoints. Below we highlight two of them for you, the Staelduinse Bos and the Prince Forest. Both can be reached in about 20 minutes by bike, and by car you can get there even faster!
Staelduinse Bos
The Staelduinse Bos is a fun place for play adventures. For example, you will find bunkers that come from World War II. Walk among the men’s quarters of the German bunker village, but don’t go inside. Way too dangerous! Dogs are welcome in this beautiful piece of nature; however, they must be kept on a leash. There are three hiking trails, all of which pass by the bunkers. The Bat Trail (red, 3.5 km), the Old Cow Stable Trail (yellow, 3 km) and the Van Rijckevorsel Trail (blue, 2.5 km; wheelchair-friendly). For children there is a watchtower and a play pool, wet feet guaranteed!
There are two P areas where you can park your car:
P-terrain 1 is opposite Staalduinlaan 19, 2691 NN ‘s-Gravenzande.
P-terrain 2 is on the Oude Hooislag 2(at the end of the Papedijk), 2691 NH, ‘s-Gravenzande, which is equipped with 2 disabled parking spaces.
Prinsenbos
The Prinsenbos is a recreational area in Naaldwijk, near Strandpark Vlugtenburg. For the most part, it consists of a small lake with a thin edge of forest. In the recreational area you will find nature, sports and relaxation. The Prince Forest also has a fine hiking trail.
Take a dip in the lake, have a picnic on the beach, have fun in the playground equipment or take your dog to the special dog beach. You can also learn all about herbs, birds, insects, flowers and plants. Everyone can have a good time here!
